Dr. Shally Awasthi is a distinguished pediatric pulmonologist and clinical epidemiologist with over 35 years of experience in child health research and public health. She currently serves as Vice Chancellor of Bodhisatva University and is the Former Head of Pediatrics at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow. In August 2023, she became the first Indian scientist appointed to the World Health Organization’s Health-Security Interface Technical Advisory Group (HSI-TAG), advising WHO on global health security matters.

Dr. Awasthi has authored over 400 research publications, with her work spanning blood lead levels in children, asthma awareness among parents, and the global burden of acute lower respiratory infections due to RSV. She is an elected fellow of all major Indian science academies and has received prestigious awards, including the Basanti Devi Amir Chand Award and the Amrut Mody Unichem Prize, recognizing her contributions to pediatric health and scientific research.
